Ivory Data Access
In today’s customer-centric enterprises, the mainframe computers still represents an important IT investments. The vast majority of enterprise information remains buried deep in legacy databases used by applications running on mainframe computers. Accessing the mainframe-based legacy data has long been a challenge.
Ivory Data Access provides the tools to unlock that value, making it accessible across the enterprise. It simplifies the development of client/server or Web applications with little or no mainframe knowledge required.
Ivory Data Access integrates seamlessly with Ivory Service Architect providing the right fit for mainframe data integration.
Ivory Data Access Overview
Real-time SQL-based access to mainframe data sources (z/OS and VSE).
Ivory Data Access uses industry standard ODBC/JDBC interfaces to quickly and efficiently access and move data between legacy applications and distributed computing resources. Using Ivory Data Access, your distributed applications can access mainframe data sources without any host programming.
Ivory Data Access powerful SQL Interpreter addresses all major host-based data sources, including non-relational sources from any workstation or any web application.
Using standard SQL commands, distributed applications can access non-relational as well as relational data sources, including DB2, SQL/DS, VSAM, DL/I, IMS/DB, ADABAS, Datacom/DB, IDMS/DB, EDN, KDBS, CICS TS, MVS PDS/PS, Power Queues, SAM, SPITAB and 3270 Screens.
User friendly administrator interface
Ivory Data Access provides a user-friendly data retrieval method. It automatically imports data structures defined in source programs or in copybooks. This feature avoids the manual definition of mainframe file structures.
The Windows based administrator application provides mainframe data transparency even for users without mainframe knowledge. SQL queries to access mainframe data are easily created using drag and drop. No programming is required.

The Power of Predefined “Views”
Ivory Data Access predefined “views” allow for executing queries against multiple data sources. Data from different sources, even a combination of mainframe and open-system data sources, can be joined and retrieved in the form of a logical table.
Users do not need to know how the data is physically structured, where it resides, how many physical files are involved or what access method to use. They must simply execute the “view” to get the specific data required. For example, VSAM and Oracle data can be joined in real-time to be processed by an Excel spreadsheet.

Full transactional control
“Two-phases Commit” and “Rollback” functions are fully supported to synchronize databases using one or more SQL statements within one transaction.
Bi-directional Access to Distributed Data Sources
Any mainframe applications such as CICS, IMS/DC and Batch can access any ODBC data source residing on a Windows, Unix or Linux platform.
The real-time integration of mainframe applications significantly simplifies bi-directional data exchange and transactional processing in a heterogeneous environment, and may eliminate the need for synchronization of mainframe and open systems data sources.
